- Examples of the fonts that your browser/computer delivers when each of the following generic font names are specified in css.
- Below, the default font name is followed by the declaration being used to apply it to the text.
- serif
- sans-serif
- monospace
- font-family: monospace;
- Each monospace character has the same width and will be in the same column as the characters in the rows above and/or beneath:
- The same characters using a serif font: one "W" is as wide as four or five "i" characters:
- cursive
- font-family: cursive;
- Cursive fonts are suggestive of hand written text.
- fantasy
- font-family: fantasy;
- Fantasy fonts are decorative.
- The resulting font and appearance are hard to predict.
- It is not advisable to rely on them for critical designs.

- Chrome for Windows
- Chrome for Windows, Mac, and Linux are the same.
- See the video, but here are the steps:
- Click the wrench icon on the right side of the toolbar
- Select: Options (Preferences on Mac and Linux; Settings on Chrome OS).
- Click Under the Hood
- In the Web Content section:
- Font size controls the size of the font displayed
- Customize fonts, gives you more granular controal and allows you to select specific fonts and sizes for them.
- Page zoom menu adjusts the zoom.
