- The xhtml DOCTYPE requires this attribute: xmlns
- xmlns is an abbreviation for XML NameSpace
- <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">
- The lang attribute is also sometimes used to identify the language that the document was written for. For example in the HTML5 document this will be used because there is no document type declaration to specify the language:

- <head>
- Usually has no attributes.
- It is important not confuse the following terms that use the word head which can be confusing:
- The <head> tag.
- The html5 <header> tag which defines the top part of the visible page.
- Heading tags, such as <h1>, <h2>, and so forth.
- HTTP header, which is information about the transfer of data sent to and from a web server.
- Note that this information is not seen by the viewer of a web page.

- <title>
- The title is displayed in the title bar which is the name for the top border of all windows, including a browser window.
- The title is also used as the default bookmark name.
- Search in Google for "w3c" to see how search engines often use the title at the top of their results listings.
- It is also very important to put keywords in the title for the benefit of search engines.
