Class 2
Basic Page Structure, Lists, Tables, & More
The following are exercises that require you to submit homework. The assignments are in the videos and/or written:
- B01: - (4:31)
- Basic structure tags:
- These tags are important even though a browser will display a page without any of them.
- There are several additional parts needed in the head of an html file, we will cover them later when you are adjusted to using just these and we start css.
- Entire page is inside this tag<html>
- Information about a web page, including its <title> are in this tag: <head>
- All content that is visible in the browser is in this tag: <body>

- HTML list basics:
- Ordered lists <ol> are numbered.
- Unordered lists <ul> are bulleted.
- In both types of lists, list items <li> are used for the individual items.
- HTML list basics:
- B03: - (18:33)
- Nested lists (also called sublists)

- Attributes
- Attributes add characteristics to a tag such as:
- alternate name, image source, starting number.
- Attributes usually consist of three or four parts:
- Attribute name
- Equal sign
- Value(s)
- Quotations are needed around the value if there are any spaces in the value.
- For example, in the image tag, the alt attribute provides text to associate with the image. In this case the attribute's value has spaces so it must be in quotes:
- alt="This is a picture of my father"
- For example, in the image tag, the alt attribute provides text to associate with the image. In this case the attribute's value has spaces so it must be in quotes:
